Lately, I have been unpacking what it means to be a Master of my reality.
Ultimately, it means to not only be conscious of my ABILITY to create my reality, but to also USE my power to create deliberately.
You see, a lot of folks are aware that they have the ability to be Masters, they might even be calling themselves Masters but, they are not living as Masters.
What does this have to do with being a vegan, you ask?
Well here is a question for you. Do you eat what you truly want to eat, or do you eat what you believe (what you have been told) you have to eat to be "healthy"?
I have oscillated between a vegan/vegetarian diet since I was 14.
It all started with a bet between me and my middle school friends.
And then I noticed that being a vegetarian was different and made me feel special. And then I noticed it made me skinnier and I got more compliments and attention (I was a chubby preteen in a weight obsessed family, so this was a big plus for me.) And then, as I got into the whole “Black Conscious”/spirituality thing, I was taught that being a vegan made me superior and righteous.
And then, at some point I said, why am I depriving myself of what I truly desire? I will eat whatever the fuck I want and feel awesome about it.
I was not a vegan because I truly enjoyed it, but because I had been programmed to believe that I could not be healthy and thrive otherwise. It was a diet choice I made from a place of fear and an illusion of powerlessness.
It is so funny to me how often I hear people call themselves Masters and Gods, but they are afraid of EVERYTHING!! They will tell you about the chemicals in the air, food, and water, the programming in the media, the government plots to destroy you, etc. etc. And they have one million ways to defend and protect themselves. This has become their lives!!!
Isn’t that EXHAUSTING? And what a terrible waste of power!
For me, it is much more interesting and advantageous to learn how to thrive in any environment and situation. What I’ve found in my own self-mastery journey is that 99.999 percent of the time, it’s all about what you choose to believe, what you choose to create for yourself.
So, if you’re eating a donut and there is a part of you going, oh my gosh this is so unhealthy. Sugar is bad. Parasites!
You just told your body what to do and how to respond to that donut you just ate.
How about before eating that donut, you give thanks for the nourishment it will give your body? How about as you eat that donut, you visualize it growing your muscles, your hair, making your butt bigger, clearing up your skin. Whatever you want!
THAT is what Masters do. Alchemy!
I will end this piece by saying, I am not condoning or condemning any way of eating. Really, the overall point I’m making goes so far beyond a diet. At the end of the day, do you.
But I do encourage you to dissect whatever program you have running about food, and decide whether or not it truly benefits you in your role as Master of your life.
